A set of Larp weapons I did two years ago, for a viking character. Composed of two scramasaxes and two throwing daggers.

The core of the scramasaxes is a fiberglass rod, the foam is plastazote 45, painted with latex and coated with polyurethane varnish. The daggers are coreless, reinforced with a hotglue center.

I use latex weapons (with isoflex covering and a dash of silicone spay). The ones you show here are my sort of taste, grounded in a bit of history!

I never did understand the boffers? They were around in the UK about 20-30 years ago. They are safe to use, you can make them so the point is no smaller than the eye and they look damn good :)

I think I'm going to be watching you from now on :D

i would very much like a set of these just to wear, since my LARP does not allow latex on the striking edge. bravo. how much would you charge for these?

They were sold 60 euros for the scramasax and 10 euros for the small coreless throwing daggers. So the set was sold at 140 euros.

That is really a shame about your LARP association rules, since latex weapons have been proved much more safer the boffer/duct tape monstrosities still in use in the US and Canada. I seriously don't get that local oddity, if it isn't to make LARPs at a cheaper cost.

ah. see, my group, Amtgard, does not allow duct tape on the striking surfaces. we cloth-cover our weapons, and i think that makes them tons safer. the rules in our system do not allow for weapons with a cross section less than two and a half inches (i don't know the conversion), with an inch of padding around the striking edge of the weapon. and the tips cannot pass more than one and a half inches through a 2.5" ring. basically, they have to be wider than the average eye socket. i deplore duct tape weaponry since joining Amtgard.

the reason we can't use latex is because of the whole allergy thing. some people have severe reactions to it. *shrugs*

what's 140 euro in US$?

At the current rate 140 euros is $206.

So your group uses boffer weapons. Such weapons are okay with me for training, and if your rules include head strikes and thrust with the tip of the blade. But for actual LARP, they sure look dorky as hell ! So sure, with latex weapons, you are limited to slicing and no head strikes, but the look is beyond compare, and when you show your LARP pics, at least they don't remind people of pillow fights !

As for latex allergy, it is truly a preposterous argument, since latex weapons are sealed with varnish, and the only way to actually trigger an allergic reaction would be to rub them against a naked player.

ouch, i can't afford that right now *sighs*

we don't include head or neck strikes, and still use boffers. we are more of a sport than a larp, i guess. if you are on facebook, look up Lupine Moon, check out our group. we have lots of albums.

i just follow the rules, though i think latex weapons and shields would be nice. i think you can use latex paints on the nonstriking side, not sure really. they do look awesome, and i would like to commission a set for myself. at least, i would like the scramasax. not sure about the daggers yet.
